Fashion Forward's First Dinner Put Art, Business, And Culture At One Table
Jordana Guimaraes and Christopher Hunt's new cultural House held its first in-person gathering in New York, and the guest list looked nothing like a typical fashion dinner.
On September 17, roughly thirty people sat down to dinner in New York for an evening that had almost nothing to do with a traditional fashion event, and everything to do with what actually shapes one. The gathering marked the inaugural in-person dinner for Fashion Forward, a private, invitation-only cultural House founded by Jordana Guimaraes and Christopher Hunt on a simple premise, that fashion doesn't evolve in isolation, it responds to art, business, media, film, sport, and the wider culture surrounding it.
A Table Built With Intention
Hosted in partnership with PRIVÉ New York, the dinner deliberately avoided the usual industry-insiders-only guest list. Around the table sat Leonardo Lawson of BOND Creative Management, Rohit Burman, SVP of Sustainability at PVH, Luisa Herrera Garcia, SVP of Production at Alexander Wang, Matt Kaden, Co-CEO of ICECREAM and Billionaire Boys Club, Karin Satrom, Creative Director at The Metropolitan Opera, and Pandora Amoratis, former Style Director at Daily Mail, alongside artists, filmmakers, academics, and independent founders. Fashion executives sat beside artists, business leaders beside filmmakers, established names beside people just building their own. That friction was the entire point, Fashion Forward is built on the belief that the person outside your industry is often the one who changes how you see it.
The Conversation That Started With Evolution
The evening opened with Opening the Table, Fashion Forward's in-person conversation series, featuring Dale Noelle, founder of TRUE, in discussion with Guimaraes on a single theme, Evolution. Using the modeling industry's own transformation as a starting point, the conversation widened into a question facing nearly every creative field right now, how does an industry move forward while deciding what to keep, what to let go of, and where people actually fit inside that change. "We didn't want our first dinner to be about telling people what the future looks like," Guimaraes said. "We wanted to put people with very different experiences around one table and give them a reason to question it together."
The First Artwork Made For The House
The night also marked the debut of the first original artwork created specifically for Fashion Forward. Contemporary artist Daniel Acero unveiled a piece built with intricate wood detailing, centered on an infinity symbol representing continual evolution and the idea that culture never really lands on a fixed endpoint. The unveiling became one of the evening's defining moments, and the piece will remain part of the House going forward, a physical marker of its first chapter. "Culture is shaped when different worlds meet," Hunt said. "We want the House to create space for those intersections to happen intentionally."
From A Digital House To A Physical Table
Fashion Forward runs year-round through a private Digital House, where members exchange ideas independent of geography, and its in-person dinners exist as an extension of that community rather than standalone events. New York marks the start of a broader international dinner series, with the founders framing access less around proximity to the fashion industry and more around the perspective a person can actually bring to the room.
For Guimaraes and Hunt, the first dinner wasn't a culmination, it was proof of concept. The Digital House built the community. On September 17, that community finally sat down together. And the conversation, by every account, simply kept going.
